Important changes to scholar profiles

Big changes to Boise state researcher profiles are coming soon. The system that supports our current SelectedWorks profiles is being replaced at the end of 2024 (view SelectedWorks profiles here). This change comes with several improvements and a few notable updates that may impact you.

What’s Changing

  • New URLs: Profiles will have new web addresses. You’ll be notified when they’re ready.
  • Usage data: SelectedWorks usage data will no longer be available. You’ll need to gather any data prior to the end of the year. Note that this is only for SelectedWorks profiles; ScholarWorks usage data will remain available. This SelectedWorks Profile Transition FAQ document will outline the steps to secure your data.

Inclusion of student mentored work: Student-mentored work will not be displayed on profiles initially. However, this feature is planned for future development.

New Profile System Features

The new system brings several enhancements designed to benefit your work and Boise State’s presence:

  • More complete profiles: You’ll have the ability to present a fuller picture of your work and achievements.
  • Networking capabilities: It will be easier to identify and connect with potential collaborators across campus.
  • Future integrations with other campus systems: We will integrate with other existing tools, minimizing duplicate data entry.
  • Improved visibility: Community partners will have greater discovery and access to Boise State’s work.

Examples

You can preview the system and research profiles on the Arizona State University site, which uses the same platform: Search for Experts at Arizona State University
